Scented Landscapes!! CB I Hate Perfume!

Christopher Brosius creates scented landscapes and has been doing so for almost twenty years now. He spent his early years working for Kiehl’s and since has created his own label, CB I Hate Perfume.

His first scent was called “Dirt.” And was created based on childhood memories of digging vegetables and flowers on his family’s farm.

As a huge, long time fan of Aesop and their botanical based products as well as their ongoing affair with such beautiful design elements and concepts, this brand is another of my loves for this same reason.

I am also a huge fan of self taught 3 Michelin star chef Heston Blumenthal and his idea that the external sensory triggers shape a dining experience – from the multi-sensory process of flavor perception.

Blumenthal cites experiments that test the effects of sounds, colors and smells on the perception of flavor and texture. Heston quite regularly uses mists with his dishes that are to be smelt before eating his dishes. He thinks that it can be the smell of a fish and chip shop from your childhood that will help create the perfect fish and chips as the perception of flavour brings back special memories.

In the case of CB I hate perfume .. he is creating scents for you to wear, but that obviously create similar external sensory triggers.

For example, Mr Hulots Holiday is will give you a sense of the "sound of the waves rolling on the beach, the feel of the sand crunching under the bum while gazing out across the deep blue water, the smell of the air and the driftwood". This perfume ranges in price and sizes from $12 US to $65 US.

So so interesting and exciting! Check it out!
